About Hung Sing Martial Arts Association
It is our goal to teach and practice the art of Hung Sing Choy Lay Fut as a fully functional combat method to be used for self protection, full contact competition and physical fitness. By training our Mind, Body, Spirit and following Mo Duk (Martial arts code of ethics) we hope to cultivate ourselves and help create a better society.
The name Hung Sing Martial Arts Association was taken to honor our past martial arts ancestors. When the founder of Choy lay Fut finished his training with his third and final Sifu, the Shaolin monk Choy fok, he was asked to name his style Hung Sing. This was a covert message referring to a secret society created to fight for the freedom of the Chinese people against their oppressive government. The founder of Choy lay Fut, Chan Heung, decided to name his style Hung Sing Choy lay Fut to honor not just his third Sifu but all his previous teachers. It is in this vain that we call ourselves the Hung Sing Martial Arts Association to honor all of our martial ancestors and the contributions they made by passing down the art of Hung Sing Choy Lay Fut to the current generation.
