More Choy Lay Fut Info
Upon entering his teenage years, Sifu Sam Ng sought the tutelage of 4th generation Hung Sing Choy Lay Fut Kung Fu Grandmaster To Hon Chueng. Upon acceptance into Grandmaster To’s academy, Sifu Sam Ng became one among three of Grandmaster To’s last students before his retirement from the teaching of the martial arts. During the early 1980’s Sifu Sam Ng and his family immigrated to the United States to begin a new life. Though a struggle to earn a living was common for the early immigrant family, Kung Fu still existed as an integral part of Sifu Sam Ng’s family. Long before consolidating the Ng Family Chinese Martial Arts Association, Sifu Sam Ng was teaching Choy Lay Fut Kung Fu to others from his both home as well as the community centers located within Chicago’s Chinatown.
As Sifu Sam Ng’s student base grew, he and his son, Sifu Philip Ng, decided upon creating an association to consolidate his group of students and assistant instructors to better promote the Chinese martial arts. So in 1997, they officially formed the Ng Family Chinese Martial Arts Association promoting both Hung Sing Choy Lay Fut and Ving Tsun Kung Fu.
Currently, Sifu Sam Ng operates the Ng Family Chinese Martial Arts Association with his son, Sifu Philip Ng, in Chicago, Illinois. In addition to serving as a chief official for numerous national and international martial arts competitions, Sifu Sam Ng also coordinates and partakes in numerous performances and master demonstrations.
